1. What you're agreeing to
By installing Lockby ("the Extension"), using lockby.app ("the Website"), or creating an account, you agree to these Terms of Service. They form a legal agreement between you and Lockby. If you don't agree, don't use our products.
These terms apply alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your data.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Lockby. If you're under 18, you confirm that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these terms on your behalf. We don't knowingly provide services to anyone under 13.
3. What Lockby does
Lockby is a Chrome extension that locks your browser to a set of whitelisted domains during timed focus sessions. It helps you stay on task by blocking navigation to anything not on your whitelist. All blocking logic runs locally in your browser.
We offer a free tier with basic functionality and a paid Pro tier with additional features. Feature availability may change over time, and we'll give you notice before removing any Pro features you're paying for.
4. Accounts
You don't need an account to use the free tier. Pro features require one. When you create an account:
- You can sign up with Google OAuth or an email and password.
- You're responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
- You must provide accurate information. Don't create accounts for other people without their permission.
- One account per person. Don't create multiple accounts to abuse the free tier or circumvent restrictions.

5. Subscriptions and payments
- Billing — Pro subscriptions are billed monthly or annually through Lemon Squeezy, our payment processor. Prices are displayed before checkout and may change with notice.
- Auto-renewal — subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel beforehand.
- Cancellation — cancel anytime from your account page or through the Lemon Squeezy customer portal. You keep Pro access until the end of your current billing period.
- Refunds— handled on a case-by-case basis. Reach out within 7 days of purchase if you'd like one. We're reasonable about this.
- Failed payments — if a renewal payment fails, we may downgrade your account to the free tier after a grace period.
6. Free tier
The free tier gives you access to core functionality with usage limits (e.g., sessions per day, whitelisted domains, session duration). These limits may be adjusted over time. The free tier is provided at our discretion and may be modified or discontinued with reasonable notice.
7. Acceptable use
Keep it straightforward. Don't:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or extract the source code of the extension.
- Distribute, sell, or sublicense the extension or modified versions of it.
- Circumvent the tab lockdown, license validation, or any other security measures.
- Use Lockby for anything illegal or to facilitate harm to others.
- Interfere with or disrupt Lockby's servers, APIs, or infrastructure.
- Automate account creation, abuse free tier limits, or use the service in ways that degrade it for other users.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
8. Intellectual property
The Lockby name, logo, website, extension code, and all associated assets are our intellectual property. These terms don't grant you any rights to our branding or code beyond using the extension as intended.
Don't use our name, logo, or branding without written permission.
9. Account termination
By you — you can delete your account at any time from your account page. We'll remove your data from our servers within 30 days, as described in our Privacy Policy.
By us— we may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, abuse the service, or engage in fraudulent activity. If we terminate a paid account for reasons other than a terms violation, we'll offer a prorated refund for the remaining subscription period.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
Lockby is provided "as is" and "as available"without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. We don't guarantee that Lockby will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every Chrome version or system configuration.
We disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lockby and its creators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of (or inability to use) the extension or website. This includes but is not limited to lost productivity, data loss, browser issues, or loss of profits.
Our total liability for any claim related to these terms or the service is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $50, whichever is greater.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Lockby, its creators, and its service providers from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your violation of these terms or misuse of the service.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of France, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of France, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction require otherwise.

14. Severability
If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. The unenforceable part will be interpreted to reflect the original intent as closely as possible.
15. Entire agreement
These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Lockby. They supersede any prior agreements or understandings.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make meaningful changes, we'll notify you by email or through the extension before they take effect. Continued use of Lockby after changes means you accept the updated terms.
